His approach to food combines an appreciation of bold, natural flavours and colours, using premium ingredients with everything prepared from scratch. From its inception as a sidewalk Café with a handful of tables on the pavement on an innocuous corner in Camps Bay in 2001, to what stands today as a location that has etched itself into the collective memory and imagination of the Cape Town entertainment scene, Café Caprice has defined its own culture and continues to inspire its patrons and clientele. Café Caprice looks after its loyal clientele by taking the experience outside of the walls of the Café, and into other environments that allow them to express themselves with some of the elements that are associated with Cafe Caprice. Clients have been treated to events and entertainment in all forms, from sophisticated horse racing marquees, to action-packed beach volleyball days, and of course the annual Café Caprice end-of-summer party that signals another year of good times and memories.

Café Caprice has firmly established itself as one of Cape Town’s most in-demand destination venues. Positioned on the apex of picture-perfect Camps Bay beach, with the magnificent Twelve Apostles to the side and Table Mountain behind, this setting has kept locals and foreigners spellbound by its beauty, and continues to do so. From comfortable lounge areas perfect for chilling straight from the beach or winding the day up with delicious cocktails and snacks, to buzzing sidewalk tables serviced by vibrant waitresses, and backed by an operations team dedicated to creating a unique experience for our clientele, we will see to it that you have an unforgettable experience, whatever the occasion.

Groove bar

Originally a hairdressing salon before Café Caprice expanded its size back in 2002, this area has become the epicentre from which the magic emanates, as the Café Caprice resident DJ’s spin tunes from their elevated perch. The mirror-backed bar, framed by sandwave walls and with its Kiaat wood base, houses an extensive selection of beverages and spirits. On the sea side of the bar the three colorful leather-backed lounges allow for the ultimate in beach bar entertainment. These sought-after lounges are available upon request. The entire Groove bar can host up to 80 people and is available to hire for private events. Please contact us for availability, especially over the summer months from November through until March.

The Sidewalk

The 9 tables in the front of Café Caprice are perfect spots for people-watching along the famous Camps Bay strip. These tables are unreserved seating, so we recommend you arrive mid-afternoon in order to savour the sunset from this unparalleled position.


The raised area overlooking the sea that is flanked by large windows that open onto Van Kampz street, used to house a soft-serve station back in Café Caprice’s early years. Now, this mezzanine level has been classically tiled and has fantastic views of the sea, as well as 2 TV’s ideal for watching big sporting events. This area is great to hire out for functions and can host up to 40 people seated.
